— Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
While achieving success with a large multinational technology consulting firm, Matt and his wife, Nikki, had the chance to visit places like Istanbul, Chiang Mai, Goa, and Cape Town. This exposure gave Matt a desire to see more of the world.
In February 2017, Matt and Nikki packed one backpack apiece and headed out for 27 months of travel around the world. Thirty-five countries and endless relationships later, they returned home to share their stories of adventure.
Before the Trip, He had to Earn it
Becoming a multi-year sales award winner came with a great deal of adversity early on. Matt had to work through the difficulties of transitioning careers, building a portfolio, understanding technology solutions, and becoming a trusted advisor for his clients. His humble demeanor, tireless work ethic, and positive spirit made it possible to become a top performer.
I have worked closely with Matt for over 6 years and have rarely seen anyone more dedicated to doing the right thing for a client. Matt has a deep commitment to integrity and this extends to his selling and solutions to meet a client’s needs. Combining this with his tireless work ethic, he has built one of the strongest client portfolios in our company and has done it year after year. The Right Mindset, Goals, and Plan
The accomplishment of such a big achievement doesn’t happen overnight. Plenty of hard work, focus, goal setting, a strategic plan, and the right mindset were all critical in turning a dream into reality.
Matt is a huge advocate of philosophies shared by Carol Dweck in Mindset and James Allen in As A Man Thinketh. He understands that anything is possible when the right energy and focus are behind a passionate initiative. We are all capable of living out our biggest dreams.
Teaching is Learning
Matt knows that by giving back to his community and mentoring those with less experience, he will grow in his own life. Giving is growing. Sharing the ideas that he has learned along the journey, he has helped mature the professions of young business leaders and entrepreneurs.

He attempts to pass on these values when engaging with children in many different sports.
Build Your Life(style)
With the time to focus on his creative side, Matt worked on refreshing and enhancing skills while adventuring around the world. Not only figuring out how to grow and maintain a website and social presence, but Matt also shared valuable content on the journey in his personal travel blog, PassportJoy.com. The written form was not enough as followers wanted to hear the stories as well, which led to the podcast Passport Joy Travel Talk.
While in a barber chair having an unforgettable conversation with a barber in Bucharest, Romania, an idea was sparked to share the time in these unique locations around the world. World Barber Shop Adventures shows the culture and barber techniques from different shops in the towns and cities Matt visits. He has been called the Anthony Bourdain of Barber Shops. The series is available on Amazon Prime Video as well as YouTube.
When anyone travels, they love to take photographs. Matt is no different. A unique encounter while getting coffee in a back alley of Valparaíso, Chile, helped Matt decide to take photographs of police officers he met during the trip. Over the 27 months, he took over 80 photos of men and women in uniform.
He decided he had to share the photos with others who appreciated the sacrifice of these brave professionals. POLICE: Brotherhood in Uniform Around the World is a 180-page photography book that has been talked about on the national news and appreciated by officers across the country.

While building his own business, Javit Consulting, focused on helping motivated talent deliver value to clients with IT solutions, Matt also dedicates time to sharing his story of accomplishing big goals. Matt is an engaging and interesting podcast guest. I always ask myself, “Can I imagine myself going for a beer with my guests” and the answer with Matt is a resounding yes. His spotting of a subculture of men that could be explored via video blog hiding in plain sight is nothing short of genius. I look forward to going to the cricket with Matt and his wife when they are over this way. – Jonathan S. Podcaster
